HC Deb 05 June 1902 vol 108 c1529
MR. WEIR

To ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that the officials in attendance at the quarantine office at Port Saidare unacquainted with either English, French, German, or Italian: And, in view of the fact that the majority of passengers passing through Port Said are British subjects, will arrangements be made for the regular attendance of an English-speaking official.

(Answer.) There are at Port Said at present four doctors, of whom one is a lady. All of them speak French and Italian, and one speaks English. The rest of the staff are seven in number; one is English, and five speak French and Italian; one of these also speaks English.—(Foreign Office.)
