§ MR. WEIRTo ask the Secretary of State for India if he will state at what price salt is supplied by the Government of India to the native State of Khairpur, and at what price it is resold to the subjects of that State.

Under a special agreement with the State of Khairpur, a quantity of salt, sufficient for the consumption of its population, is supplied free of duty to the State at the cost of manufacture and transport, I believe about nine annas per maund; and the State retails the salt at a price fixed by itself, which, however, must not be lower than that prevailing in the adjoining British district. I understand that the price charged at present is 3 rupees 12 annas per maund.
