HC Deb 28 July 1902 vol 111 c1343
MR. WEIR

To ask the Secretary of State for India, seeing that the meetings of Municipal Council of Darjeeling are frequently postponed for want of a quorum, will he consider the expediency of suggesting to the Government of Bengal the desirability of devising some better system of representation than that which at present prevails.

(Answered ly Secretary Lord George Hamilton.) I must refer the hon. Member to the answer given to his Question on the same subject on 13th of May, in which I stated that the matter was one for the decision of the Government of Bengal, and that I did not propose to interfere with their discretion.
