To ask the Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that the carriages of the Darjeeling-Himalayan Railway are still unprovided with artificial light, with the result that passengers have to travel through the jungle in darkness for hours; and, will he, in the circumstances, consider the expediency of making representations on the subject to the controlling authority in India.

(Answered by Secretary Lard George Hamilton.) The hon. Member has already been informed, in reply to his Question of the 27th May, that the matter is one as to which any complaints should be -addressed to the local authorities.
