WEIR (Ross and Cromarty)I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General, in view of the fact that arrangements have been made under which the rate on telegrams to and from India has been reduced from 4s. to 2s. 6d. a word, will he say whether any proportionate reduction has been made in the case of Press messages to and from India which have hitherto been sent at special rates.
§ THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN,) Worcestershire, E.As stated by the Secretary of State for India on 25th February last, the Press rate has been reduced from 1s. 4d. to 1s. The new rate came into existence on March 1st last.
