HC Deb 09 July 1902 vol 110 c1193
LORD CHARLES BEEESFOED (Woolwich)

To ask the Secretary of State for War if officers of the Army Reserve of Officers, who retired after twenty years service, and who have been re-employed during the late war in South Africa, are entitled to promotion or increase of pension, or both, when their services are no longer required.

(Answer.) Such officers are eligible for promotion, and individual cases are considered on their merits, and the Commander-in-Chief will carefully consider the claims of these officers on demobilisation. As regards pensions, they have the option of a gratuity at the termination of their service, or an increase in their retired pay, if their service gives them a claim thereto.—(War Office.)
