HC Deb 31 January 1902 vol 102 cc39-40
THE MARQUESS OF HAMILTON (Londonderry)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can say at whose request a sworn inquiry has been ordered by the Local Government Board for Ireland to be held into a proposal to transfer the portion of county Donegal embraced in the poor law unions of Londonderry and Strabane to the poor law unions of Innisbowen, Letterkenny, and Stranorlar; and, seeing that the Londonderry Board of Guardians and Londonderry No. 2 Rural District Csuncil passed resolutions more than two years ago against the Donegal portion of the Union being transferred, can he explain why this inquiry is now ordered.

MR. WYNDHAM

The inquiry was ordered upon an application made by the Donegal County Council. Any representations that may be made on behalf of the Londonderry Board of Guardians and Rural District Council, in opposition to the suggested transfer, will of course be heard at the inquiry.
