HC Deb 20 January 1902 vol 101 c295
MR. KEARLEY (Devonport)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury, whether any measure will be submitted this session by the Government for the abolition of the Royal Patriotic Commission and the establishment of a Naval and Military Pension Board to administer the funds now vested in the Royal Patriotic Commissioners and others, as recommended unanimously by the Joint Select Committee of Lords and Commons appointed last session to inquire into the charitable agencies for relief of widows and orphans of soldiers and sailors.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

His Royal Highness, writing with the authority of the Patriotic Fund Commissioners, has assured me that the Commissioners will not allow their charter to stand in the way of any changes which the Government may think desirable in the administration of the charitable funds now vested in the Commission. I hope without any undue delay to state to the House the proposals which the Government have to make on the subject.
