HC Deb 27 February 1902 vol 103 cc1280-1
MR. DAVID THOMAS (Merthyr Tydvil)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the majority of the Welsh settlers in the Chubut district have informed the authorities that they have no thought of leaving the country, and that a few only desire to change their residence to the Rio Nigro; and whether he will use his good offices to induce the Argentine Government to grant the settlers every facility to effect this change of residence.

SIR M. HICKS BEACH (for Lord CRANBORNE)

It is understood that the large majority of the 2,500 Welsh colonists at Chubut have no wish to leave the country. His Majesty's Government have no information that any of them desire to change their residence to the Rio Nigro.
