HC Deb 27 February 1902 vol 103 c1269
MR. LLOYD-GEORGE (Carnarvon Boroughs)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he has any information as to the recent raid by the Boers upon the concentration camp at Pietersburgh; and whether he can state the number of the surrendered burghers recaptured by the Boers during that raid.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. BRODRICK, Surrey, Guildford)

There was no raid on the camp, nor were the 150 Boers recaptured. Our information shows that Beyers managed to get fifty men into the camp apparently as refugees, and they induced 150 surrendered burghers to go out and join him.
