I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether it is proposed to give certain executive officers a mechanical training with a view to their taking charge of the hydraulic gun machinery on board ships of war; and, if so, how is it proposed to carry out the mechanical training of the said Officers.

It has been decided to give certain Executive Officers a mechanical training with a view to their taking charge of the hydraulic gun machinery on board ships for war; and a Committee has been directed to consider and report upon the most effective means of giving effect to this decision. † See (4) Debates, xcviii, 238, 406, 848.
