I beg to ask the Financial Secretary to the War Office, whether he can state how many horses have been sent under contract with the War Office from Argentina to South Africa, and what was the contract price paid to Messrs. Houlder per head for their transport across the sea.

The number of horses was 25,872. The average contract price per head paid to Houlder Brothers for sea transport was £14 5s. 3d.
