§ MR. LABOUCHEREI beg to ask the Financial Secretary to the War Office, whether his attention has been called to a statement made by a witness before the Parliamentary Committee on the Remounts, that at the time when the Leveson horses were being bought a South African Company was also buying horses at the same place, and that Major 987 Armstrong was concerned in these latter purchases; whether he has any knowledge whether this South African Company was connected with purchases of horses either on behalf of His Majesty's Government or of any British authorities in South Africa; and whether Major Armstrong is in the public service.
LORD STANLEYI have no information whatever concerning the South African Company and the officer referred to.
