WEIRTo ask the Secretary of State for India, in view of the fact that salt is sold by the Government of India to the native State of Khairpur at nine annas per maund on the understanding that it is not to be resold to the people for less than the price charged in the adjoining British district, vi., three rupees twelve annas per maund, will he say whether the 1332 other native States of India are enabled to purchase salt from the Indian Government at a similar rate.

The rate at which salt is obtained by certain native States, in virtue of treaty engagements, from the British Indian Government, and the conditions under which it is to be resold, vary in different cases. The condition that such salt is not to be resold at less than the price charged in the adjoining British district is not unusual.
