§ CAPTAIN CLIVE () Herefordshire, RossTo ask the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the former canteen stewards of the 9th Regimental District at Norwich, and the garrison canteen at Fleetwood, have been given contracts as tenants of these place; and whether he will consider the advisability of taking steps to prevent a reversion to the condition of canteen management which the regimental system was introduced to put an end to.
(Answered by Mr, Secretary Brodrick.) The general officers commanding Army corps and districts have, under existing arrangements, full powers of deciding whether their canteens are to be conducted on the tenant or regimental system; and, so long as this discretion is entrusted to them, it is not proposed to interfere with the measures they may take.
