HC Deb 07 August 1902 vol 112 c950
MR. BRYN ROBERTS (Carnarvonshire, Eifion)

To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that a foreign ship that has caused the loss of life to a British sailor by negligent collision cannot be arrested in this country at the suit of the relatives in an action for compensation; and whether he will take steps to amend the law so as to enable in such case proceedings to be taken in rem.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) I believe the law to be as is stated. I cannot give any promise as to legislation.
