HC Deb 06 August 1902 vol 112 cc785-6
MR. SWIFT MACNEILL

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to the Report of the Public Accounts Committee, showing that a waste of material worth £10.000 a year has been going on for years, and was only stopped by the intelligent observation of a policeman: whether that policeman has been rewarded; and whether any action has been taken in regard to the officials responsible for this waste.

MR. BRODR1CK

The whole matter is under investigation. The policeman was duly rewarded.

MR. SWIFT MACNEILL

How was he rewarded?

MR. BRODRICK

With the sum of £20.
