HC Deb 10 April 1902 vol 105 cc1439-40
MR. SPENCER (Northamptonshire, Mid)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War if he will consider the advisability of giving to acting sergeant majors of Volunteer battalions the same permanent rank as is now enjoyed by sergeant majors of Militia battalions.

The matter has been frequently considered, and it has not been thought desirable to grant any higher rank.
