HC Deb 10 April 1902 vol 105 c1447
MR. CHARLES HOBHOUSE (Bristol, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can give any information as to the cause of the rioting in Jamaica; and whether he has any report indicating a renewal of the disturbances.

MR. J. CHAMBERLAIN

The Acting Governor has stated in a telegram that the whole matter was, in his opinion, an anti-police riot, but I must await a full report by mail. The latest telegram received yesterday stated that as far as then reported all was quiet and no further trouble probable.
