HC Deb 09 May 1901 vol 93 c1148
MR. WILLIAM ALLAN (Gateshead)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether he can state what indicated horse-power is to be taken out of the engines of H.M.S. "Medusa," after being fitted with the eight Dürr water-tube boilers ordered from Germany; and what consumption of fuel is guaranteed per indicated horse-power over a full speed test of time equal to her bunker capacity of coal tons.

MR. PRETYMAN

The horse-power guaranteed for the engines of the "Medusa" is 7,500 for a period of eight hours. The consumption of fuel per horse-power has not been guaranteed, but it is one of the objects of the Committee's experiments to obtain all particulars on this point.
