LOUGHI beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board if he will state what number of poor law children are under the care of the Metropolitan Asylums Board, and whether the several boards of guardians have availed themselves of the order to transfer certain classes of children to the central authority.
§ MR. WALTER LONGThe number of children coming within the order of the Local Government Board of the 2nd April, 1897, who are under the care of the Metropolitan Asylums Board, is 348. The reply to the second paragraph of the question is generally in the affirmative.
