HC Deb 03 May 1901 vol 93 c618
MR. CHANNING (Northamptonshire, E.)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether he will assent to the appointment of a Select Committee to inquire whether, and, if so, by what alterations of procedure, further facilities can be given for passing through their several stages Bills introduced by private Members, and supported by decisive majorities in this House.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I am not satisfied that any advantage would be obtained by the course the right hon. Gentleman suggests.

MR. CHANNING

Does the right hon. Gentleman propose to take any other steps in order to give greater facilities to private Members' Bills?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I have no statement to make on that subject at the present moment.
