HC Deb 02 May 1901 vol 93 cc410-1
MR. J. P. FARRELL

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War if he will state on what grounds the Captain Station Paymaster of the 34th Regiment refused to pay a balance of £2 3s. 2d., due to the guardians of Longford Union for the maintenance in that institution of James Kearney, late of the 34th Regiment; whether the fact of a life certificate not being sent in could invalidate the claim; and why a further payment cannot be made in respect of the sum claimed, seeing that Kearney has now become an inmate of Chelsea Hospital.

LORD STANLEY

The delay appears to have arisen through a misunderstanding. Instructions have now been given for the payment of the sum claimed.
