MACNAMARA (Camberwell, N.)I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether, in view of the replies he has received from local authorities throughout the country in response to his circular asking for information respecting the precise difficulties which stand in the way of carrying out the Housing of the Working Classes Acts, he can see his way to recommend the Government to extend the period of repayment of loans for housing schemes.
§ MR. WALTER LONGI have nothing to add to what I have already said on this subject. Very few replies have as yet been received from the local authorities with whom I have communicated.
§ DR. MACNAMARAWill the right hon. Gentleman give an assurance that the replies will be laid before the House?
§ MR. WALTER LONGNo; certainly not. The inquiry is one of a departmental character, and therefore I could not undertake to lay the Papers on the Table.
