HC Deb 15 July 1901 vol 97 c435
MR. SWIFT MACNEILL

I beg to ask the First Commissioner of Works whether he can state on what Vote the expenditure entailed by the trial of a peer in the House of Lords will be borne.

THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (Mr. AKERS DOUGLAS,) Kent, St. 436 Augustine's

The expense, so far as my Department is concerned, is borne on the Vote for Houses of Parliament Buildings, Class 1, Vote 3.

MR. SWIFT MACNEILL

rose to put a further question.

* MR. SPEAKER

Order, order! The question has been fully answered. The hon. Member asked for and has been told the Vote, and he cannot now discuss the matter.

MR. SWIFT MACNEILL

But I want to put a supplementary question. I want to ask the right hon. Gentleman, seeing that he as First Commissioner of Works is responsible, whether the estimates for the expense now being incurred have been laid before him.

* MR. SPEAKER

The hon. Member had better put that question down.

MR. SWIFT MACNEILL

Certainly. Sir.
