HC Deb 21 February 1901 vol 89 c687
MR. FLAVIN

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he can state the number of deaths which have taken place in Great Britain during the past twelve months from the effect of drinking arsenicised beer, and also the number of cases reported during the same period in Great Britain in which people were reported or stated to have been poisoned, or to have suffered from the effects of drinking beer unfit for human use.

MR. WALTER LONG

The amount of exceptional sickness and death in England and Wales attributable to poisoning by arsenic is one of the qestions referred to the Royal Commission recently appointed. The Local Government Board are not in possession of the particulars asked for by the hon. Member. The latest information they have on the subject is contained in the Report made to them by Dr. Buchanan, which was presented to both Houses of Parliament last week.
