I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether it is the practice for sheriffs in Scotland to provide at their own expense all stationery required in connection with their office, and to pay their travelling expenses when engaged on business which requires their attendance at places other than their chief court house.

In reply to the first paragraph of the question, the answer is that stationery is provided in the sheriff courts at the public expense. In reply to the second paragraph, the answer is in the affirmative.
