HC Deb 29 April 1901 vol 93 cc64-5
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether the Secretary for Scotland is aware that the people of Carloway, Lewis, have applied to the Congested Districts Board for a bull, without success; will he state what other townships have met with a similar response to their applications, and what steps it is proposed to take to remedy the grievance.

*MR. A. GRAHAM MURRAY

As regards the first portion of the hon. Member's question, I must point out that the statement in the hon. Member's question is not accurate; the application by the people of Carloway was for a bull in the month of May, and the animal will be delivered to them in that month. In reply to the last portion, it is sufficient for me to say that the Congested Districts Board have arranged for the distribution of the bulls which, in their discretion, they have purchased, to the places where they consider they will do most good.

MR. WEIR

As the right hon. Gentleman says my statement is incorrect, I will furnish him with the information applied me by the people of the district.
