HC Deb 23 March 1900 vol 81 cc172-3
MR. SWIFT MACNEILL

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether Major General Wauchope expressed any difference of opinion as to the scheme of the operations to be undertaken at the battle of Magersfontein which, in obedience to the orders of Lord Methuen, his commanding officer, he endeavoured to carry out.

* See page 29 of this volume.
*MR. WYNDHAM

Nothing is known which tends to confirm the suggestion put forward by the hon. Member. Lord Methuen states in his despatch that General Wauchope made no comment on his orders beyond replying that he understood them.

MR. SWIFT MACNEILL

Will Lord Methuen be asked the question I have now put?

*MR. SPEAKER

Order, order!
