HC Deb 12 March 1900 vol 80 c577
SIR JOHN KINLOCH (Perthshire, E.)

I beg to ask the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether the potatoes for the use of our troops in South Africa are bought in America; and, if so, what are they costing per ton delivered at Cape Town; and what is the reason that they are not bought in this country.

MR. J. POWELL-WILLIAMS

My hon. friend is under a misapprehension. Potatoes are not being supplied either from home or foreign sources to the troops in South Africa.
