§ CAPTAIN NORTONI beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War if he can state when the War Office Reorganisation Committee, presided over by the Financial Secretary to the War Office, and appointed in October, 1898, expects to conclude its labours; what progress has been made in the methods of conducting business in the Adjutant General's, Ordnance, and Accountant General's Departments; whether the Department of Works and Buildings, for which the Inspector General of Fortifications is responsible, has been overhauled by the Committee; and when, in view of the increasing public interest in the proper conduct of all departments of the Army, the Secretary of State will be able to place upon the Table of the House a report of the results of the inquiry of that Committee, which has been sitting for the past sixteen months.
* MR. J. POWELL-WILLIAMSI would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave to the hon. Member for South Donegal on this subject yesterday, but I may observe that the scope of the inquiry was by no means as extensive as the terms of the question would suggest.
§ CAPTAIN NORTONMy question was not quite the same, and the hon. Gentle- 1364 man has left two or three points unanswered.
