HC Deb 12 February 1900 vol 78 cc1247-8
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether he is aware that many thousands of ratepayers in Scotland who are entitled to vote for the parliamentary representative and the county and parish council have no vote for school board elections by reason of their rentals being less than £4; and will he consider the advisability of introducing legislation this session which will place the school board electorate on a satisfactory footing.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

The facts stated in the first paragraph are correct, but I cannot hold out any hope of legislation on the subject being introduced this session.

MR. WEIR

Will the right hon. Gentleman support the Bill I have brought in, as for several years past?

Mr. A. J. BALFOUR

I must wait until I have had time to study it.
