HC Deb 09 February 1900 vol 78 c1058
MR. WILLIAM REDMOND

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if his attention has been called to a resolution of the Clare County Council, in which they call attention to the high taxation that prevails in Clare, and respectfully ask the Irish Government to reconsider the question of the instalments of extra police charge, seeing that the county has returned to its normal position of peace; and whether the prayer of this resolution can be granted.

MR. ATKINSON (for Mr. G. W. BALFOUR)

The attention of the Chief Secretary has been directed to the resolution referred to. The Government are unable to accede to the application contained in the resolution.
