HC Deb 05 February 1900 vol 78 c567
MR. WARNER

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War what steps are being taken to bring the proportion of guns up to the standard of foreign armies for our troops engaged in the war; and what steps are being taken to supply field batteries at home to replace those that have been, and will have to be, sent abroad.

* THE UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. WYNDHAM,) Dover

In reply to the first paragraph I have to say that the artillery with the fighting line of our army in South Africa is up to continental standards. The general statement about to be made will include a reply to the question in the second paragraph.
