§ SIR LEWIS MACIVER (Edinburgh,W.)I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General, if he is now in a position to say when the scheme of revision for the sorting branch of the Edinburgh Post Office, which has been under consideration for more than, two years, is likely to be sanctioned.
§ THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN,) Worcestershire, E.A portion of the scheme for the revision of the Edinburgh Sorting Office was sanctioned by the Treasury and carried into effect in August last. The remainder is held in suspense pending the settlement of certain questions of principle, with regard to higher appointments, which affect the service generally, but which it is hoped will be disposed of before long.
