HC Deb 19 October 1899 vol 77 c238
SIR ELLIS ASHMEAD-BARTLETT

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether Mr. Lanham, of Krugersdorp, was brutally kicked and maltreated by armed Boers, and has since died of these injuries.

MR. J. CHAMBERLAIN

I have no information beyond what is contained in the report from The Times correspondent, dated Cape Town, October 11th, and published in The Times of the 13th, from which it appeared that Mr. Lanham was alive.
