HC Deb 21 March 1899 vol 68 c1572
COLONEL DENNY

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether it is the intention of the Government to establish a State Inebriate Reformatory in Scotland; and if any applications have been received for the establishment of certified reformatories?

MR. GRAHAM MURRAY

Her Majesty's Government propose to defer the expenditure required for the establishment in Scotland of a State Inebriate Reformatory until experience has been had of the operation of the new legislation and the permanent demand it is likely that such an institution will have to meet. The Secretary for Scotland has not as yet received any application for the establishment of certified inebriate reformatories.
