HC Deb 21 March 1899 vol 68 c1572
COLONEL DENNY (Kilmarnock Burghs)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware that the Fire Brigade Committee of the London County Council have presented a Report to the Council drawing attention again, as they have on previous occasions, to the dangers arising from the use of low flash oil, and expressing their conviction that no oil should be sold in London the flash point of which is less than 100 degrees Abel close test; and whether he will take any action in the matter?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. COLLINGS,) Birmingham, Bordesley

I have seen the Report to which the honourable and gallant Member refers. As he is aware, the Government are preparing a Bill dealing with the question of petroleum.
