HC Deb 21 March 1899 vol 68 c1573
MR. O'KELLY (Roscommon, N.)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether he is aware that butter made in the United Kingdom is handicapped in the homo markets by the importation of colonial and foreign "bounty-fed" butter; and whether he will afford this home industry the protection of a countervailing duty on the same principle that he has consented to have applied to the importation of "bounty-fed" sugar into India?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

I am not aware that there is any "bounty-fed" butter, as the honourable Member suggests.
