HC Deb 20 March 1899 vol 68 cc1325-6
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War, having regard to the fact that the War Office states that the character and sanitary surroundings of the buildings at Dingwall, in which a portion of the staff of the Ross-shire Militia are now quartered, are not such as to make it desirable to extend the accommodation, will he consider the expediency of erecting new buildings in or near the town such as will accommodate the whole of the staff?

MR. POWELL WILLIAMS

As detached Militia head-quarters are undesirable, and as there is accommodation at Fort George for recruits for the 3rd Battalion of the Seaforth Highlanders during their drill on enlistment, it Mould not be right to incur the heavy tost of building barracks at Dingwall.
