WEIRI beg to ask the Lord Advocate if he will state under what circumstances the late commander of the Fishery Board cruiser "Brenda" was appointed; and was the appointment advertised as vacant, and was the commander selected from several candidates; if so, from how many, and by whom was the selection made?
MR. GRAHAM MURRAYI am informed by the Fishery Board that all the vacancies referred to by the honourable Member were duly advertised in the newspapers. There were many applications, which were carefully considered by a Committee of the Board, and their recommendations were afterwards confirmed by the whole Board at their regular meeting.
