HC Deb 20 March 1899 vol 68 c1329
MR. PATRICK O'BRIEN (Kilkenny)

I beg to ask Mr. Attorney-General whether Mr. P. M. Leonard, after being for 22 years county court judge of Circuit NO. 51, and having attained the age of 75 years, was on the 12th March 1896 invited to tender his resignation, and was informed that in the event of its acceptance the question of pension would be considered by the Lord Chancellor; whether, in consequence of the aforesaid invitation, Mr. Leonard did resign on the 16th March 1896; whether the question of his pension has been so considered; and, has the same been granted; and, if not, on what grounds?

THE ATTORNEY-GENERAL (Sir R. WEBSTER,) Isle of Wight

It is not possible within the limits of an answer to a Question to deal with the facts of this case. After full consideration, the Lord Chancellor came to the conclusion that it was not possible to recommend the grant of a pension to Mr. Leonard.
