§ MR. E. H. PICKERSGILL (Bethnal Green, S.W.)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether there have been any cases within the experience of the Prison Commissioners in which a Court of Summary Jurisdiction ordered that a person convicted before it of a criminal offence, and sentenced by it to imprisonment, should be treated in prison as a misdemeanant of the first division; if so, have the Commissioners recognised and given effect to such orders?
§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENTI hope the hon. Member will give me a little more notice in future, for it is not easy always to get answers to Questions which appear on the Paper for the first time on the morning of the day they are to be put. The Commissioners inform me that they have no knowledge of any such case.
