MR. FIELDI beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that Dr. Poster Newland has remonstrated against his dismissal without notice or complaint from his position as medical officer to the Irish Lights Board in the Kingstown District after a satisfactory service of 20 years; and, whether he will cause an investigation to be made into the facts?
§ MR. AKERS-DOUGLASMy right hon. Friend has been informed by Dr. Newland that he has been dismissed from his position. His employment rests entirely with the Commissioners, the Board of Trade control being limited to approval of the fees.
