HC Deb 18 February 1896 vol 37 c567
MR. J. LOWLES (Shoreditch, Haggerston)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade, if he can state the approximate amount of unclaimed dividends in the hands of chartered accountants acting as trustees of estates in liquidation? And whether it is possible to make such persons accountable to the Board of Trade annually for any such unclaimed dividends in their possession?

MR. RITCHIE

Trustees in bankruptcy, and liquidators of companies are already accountable to the Board of Trade for any dividends that have remained unclaimed for a period of six months from the date of declaration. Trustees under deeds of arrangement are not so accountable, and I am unable to say what amount of unclaimed dividends they may have in their possession.
