§ MR. J. CHAMBERLAINThe Petition referred to was presented to Parliament at the time it was received, and constitutes the Parliamentary Paper C. 7,554. The object of the Petitioners was to ask the intervention of the High Commissioner in procuring their relief from the liability to be commandeered, which they represented as an injustice, seeing that they had none of the rights of citizenship. This matter was satisfactorily arranged for them at the time by the High Commissioner.
