HC Deb 29 April 1887 vol 314 c354
DR. KENNY (Cork, S.)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether he will grant the Return as to Agrarian Outrages in Ireland, in the form adopted by the late Mr. Forster in 1881, standing on the Paper for Monday next?

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDER SECRETARY (Colonel KING-HARMAN) (Kent, Isle of Thanet)

(who replied) said: It has been already intimated to the hon. Member that he can have the Return omitting the names of the persons injured.

DR. KENNY

What is the objection to Column 3, which is the only one which would give us any accurate information to enable us to test the Return?

COLONEL KING-HARMAN

The objection is that giving the names of the persons injured would subject them to further molestation.

DR. KENNY

May I ask the right hon. and gallant Gentleman, whether he is of opinion that the danger is greater now than it was in 1880, when Mr. Forster gave these particulars?

MR. SPEAKER

Order, order! That is a matter of opinion, and cannot form the subject of a Question.

MR. T. M. HEALY (Longford, N.)

May I ask the right hon. and gallant Gentleman, whether the names were given in the Returns furnished by Mr. Forster and the details of the outrages?

COLONEL KING-HARMAN

In the Returns of Mr. Forster the names were given.
