HC Deb 29 April 1887 vol 314 c353
MR. BRADLAUGH (Northampton)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, When the Employers' Liability Bill, promised by the Government last Session, and again promised this Session, will be introduced; and, what has caused the delay in the introduction?

MR. ARTHUR O'CONNOR (Donegal, E.)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether the Government have abandoned their intention to introduce a Bill to amend the Employers' Liability Act; and, if not, on what date he proposes to introduce it; and, how soon the Bill may be expected to be in the hands of Members?

THE UNDER SECRETARY or STATE (Mr. STUART-WORTLEY) (Sheffield, Hallam)

(who replied) said: It is the intention of the Government to introduce an Employers' Liability Bill at the earliest possible date. I hope it will be in the hands of Members in the course of next or the following week. Considering the present state of Public Business no advantage would have been gained by its introduction at an earlier period of the Session.
