HC Deb 01 July 1881 vol 262 c1825
MR. JUSTIN M'CARTHY

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If he can say why the relief works ordered last Winter at Extraordinary Sessions in Granard, county Longford, have been so long delayed, and why the works ordered for the townland of Aughanoran have not yet been begun, although there is much poverty in that district, and a great many men are eagerly asking for employment there?

MR. W. E. FORSTER,

in reply, said, that on making inquiries into the matter he found that the works referred to had been postponed pending the completion of two other works in the same locality.
