HC Deb 01 July 1881 vol 262 c1825
MR. JUSTIN M'CARTHY

asked the Postmaster General, Whether he is aware that the conveyance of letters between Arna, county Cavan, and Moyne, county Longford, is very defective and irregular, that the mails sent from Arna at half-past nine in the morning often do not arrive at Moyne, a distance of only two miles, until between eleven and twelve, and that people receiving letters there by that post cannot answer them on the same day, as there is no post leaving Moyne in the evening?

MR. FAWCETT,

in reply, said, that no complaints of irregularities such as those mentioned in the Question had reached him; but he had given instructions that inquiries should be made, and would ascertain whether the correspondence between Arna and Moyne was sufficient to justify the establishment of an afternoon post from the latter place.
